Rheological structures of the mid-lower crust and upper mantle in Eastern Tibet and Sichuan Basin

In this work, we would like to better constrain the rheological structure and properties of the Eastern Tibetan Plateau and Sichuan Basin. First we calculate the interseismic, coseismic and postseismic displacements from continuous and campaign-mode GPS station for the 2008 Mw 7.9 Wenchuan and 2013 Mw 6.7 Lushan earthquakes. Then, we constructed the layered blocks, fault geometry and source model for the finite element model based on published coseismic slip models of the two events as well as tomographic and magnetotelluric images of eastern Tibetan Plateau, and topographic reliefs of eastern Tibetan Plateau. We use three-dimensional elastic and viscoelastic finite element models to study the coseismic and postseismic displacements of these two earthquakes.
